QuestionsStraight answers about paving with us

About us

What areas does Arrington Paving serve?

We’re based at 160 Energy Boulevard in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Our crews work across Franklin, Roanoke, Henry, Floyd, Botetourt, Pittsylvania and Bedford counties and the city of Lynchburg — including Rocky Mount, Roanoke, Salem, Vinton, Martinsville and Lynchburg.

Are estimates free?

Yes. Estimates are free for commercial, municipal and residential projects. Send a request online or call (540) 483-5606, and we’ll visit the property, measure up and give you a detailed estimate.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. When we build a commercial job from the ground up — site prep, grading, a proper stone base and then the asphalt — it comes with a one-year workmanship warranty. Because we control every layer, we can stand behind the finished surface. We’ll go over exactly what’s covered when we give you your estimate.

Commercial & municipal

What commercial paving services do you offer?

New asphalt parking lots, entrances and drive lanes; patching, crack repair and lot maintenance; sealcoating and line striping; tar-and-gravel surface treatment; grading and excavation; stonework; and parking and traffic signage.

Do you work as a subcontractor for general contractors?

Yes. We’re a dependable paving subcontractor for general contractors, and we schedule around the weather, the scope of work and the GC’s timeline.

Do you work for cities and counties?

Yes. We’ve surface-treated more than 100 alleys under the City of Roanoke’s alley contracts without a failed inspection, and we pave public lots, alleys and roads for local governments.

What should I include with a commercial bid request?

Site plans or specs if you have them, the approximate size of the area or number of parking spaces, and your target timeline or bid date. We’ll follow up to set a site visit.

Driveways & homeowners

Should I choose asphalt or tar and gravel for my driveway?

Asphalt gives a smooth, uniform black finish, suits neighborhood homes and typically lasts 10 to 15 years; it costs more up front, and periodic sealcoating protects it. Tar and gravel (sometimes called tar and chip) has a textured, rustic stone finish, costs less up front and typically lasts 5 to 7 years before it’s re-treated, which makes it a popular upgrade for long rural and gravel driveways. We’ll walk your driveway and recommend the right surface at no charge.

Can you stop water from running into my garage or basement?

Often, yes. Drainage problems usually come down to the grade of the driveway. We regrade and repave so water runs away from the house — like we did for a couple whose driveway had been sending rainwater into their garage and basement for years.

Do you sealcoat driveways?

Yes. Sealcoating protects an existing asphalt driveway, restores its deep black finish and helps stop small cracks from spreading.

Estimates

What happens after I request an estimate?

Our office reviews your request and reaches out. We visit the property and measure up at no charge, then give you a detailed estimate. Once you approve it, we work out a start date with you.

Jobs

Is Arrington Paving hiring?

Open positions are listed when you click Apply online on our careers page. Even when nothing is posted, you can leave your résumé and we’ll reach out if a position opens up that fits — or call (540) 483-5606.

Do I need paving experience to apply?

Not for every role. We provide on-the-job training, so tell us what you’ve done and what you want to learn. Heavy-equipment experience matters most for operator positions.

What should I bring to an application?

Just your contact information and a short note about your experience — the equipment you’ve run, any CDL, and when you can start. A résumé is welcome but not required.
