Surface-treated driveway edged with stonework leading to a brick home

Fix the driveway. Fix the water.

The Barretts built their home in 1978. Over the years, rainwater started running down the driveway into the garage and basement. We regraded and repaved — and they haven’t had an issue since.

“The time frame was good and the price was fair, so we hired them.”

Driveway questions

The things homeowners ask us most.

All questions

Should I choose asphalt or tar and gravel for my driveway?

Asphalt gives a smooth, uniform black finish, suits neighborhood homes and typically lasts 10 to 15 years; it costs more up front, and periodic sealcoating protects it. Tar and gravel (sometimes called tar and chip) has a textured, rustic stone finish, costs less up front and typically lasts 5 to 7 years before it’s re-treated, which makes it a popular upgrade for long rural and gravel driveways. We’ll walk your driveway and recommend the right surface at no charge.

Can you stop water from running into my garage or basement?

Often, yes. Drainage problems usually come down to the grade of the driveway. We regrade and repave so water runs away from the house — like we did for a couple whose driveway had been sending rainwater into their garage and basement for years.

Do you sealcoat driveways?

Yes. Sealcoating protects an existing asphalt driveway, restores its deep black finish and helps stop small cracks from spreading.
